Currently
the Associate Director of Queensland’s La Boite Theatre, Ian is also Co-Artistic
Director of green Theatre Company. For La Boite Ian recently directed
the critically acclaimed premiere production of MY LOVE HAD A BLACK SPEED STRIPE.
For green, Ian has directed ALIVE AT WILLIAMSTOWN PIER, OLEANNA, THE MISANTHROPE, JERUSALEM, CHEAPSIDE, THE BIG PICTURE and THE MAIDS, while also designing OLEANNA, THE MISANTHROPE, JERUSALEM and CHEAPSIDE.
In 2002 Ian directed green’s sellout performance of VAGINA MONOLOGUES as part of the International V-Day movement, raising awareness and funds to support organisations that deal with the prevention of violence against women and girls. In 2002 Ian was also guest director of AFTER JANUARY for Caloundra Cultural Centre, directed FORBIDDEN TONGUES WHISPERED IN A NIGHT OF DESERT RAPTURE and TRADE SECRETS by Stephen Carleton as part of the Brisbane Pride Festival. He is also working on two green commissions, MUSK as dramaturg and consultative director for THE ROMANY PROJECT.
In 1998 Ian received an Anderson Consulting Scholarship with QTC which allowed him to work as Assistant Director on Arthur Miller’s BROKEN GLASS, and in 2000 was recognised as an Australian Young Achiever of Excellence by the Queen’s Trust.
