In
2003 Lewis directed the revival of David Williamson's THE REMOVALIST at Brisbane's
La Boite Theatre and the Perth season of HE DIED WITH A FELAFEL IN HIS HAND.
Other La Boite productions include the highly successful SECRET BRIDESMAID'S
BUSINESS at the Optus Playhouse, THE JOHN WAYNE PRINCIPLE,
FIRST ASYLUM and AFTER JANUARY.
Lewis received critical praise for his first Sydney production in 2001, the confronting hostage drama, DARK HEART at Sydney’s Tap Gallery which he followed up with the outrageous comedy, EVERYONE LOVES THE BITCHING for the Melbourne Fringe.
Prior directing credits include HE DIED WITH A FELAFEL IN HIS HAND, TWO, SWEET PHOEBE and BOUNCERS for his own production company, ‘someone’, and for Matrix Theatre, SOMEONE WHO'LL WATCH OVER ME which he received a Matilda Award.
Lewis also directed HAMLET for Matrix Theatre, BLACKROCK and YERMA for QUT, SID THE SERPENT for Opera Queensland and THE QUEENSLAND BIENNIAL CONCERT for Queensland Performing Arts Trust.
As an actor Lewis has worked for Queensland Theatre Company, La Boite Theatre, Lyric Opera of Queensland, TN Theatre Co, New Moon Theatre Company and Grin and Tonic. He has filmed roles in the feature films JOEY and MR RELIABLE and THE WAYNE MANIFESTO (ABC-TV).
