Two time AWGIE award winner Margery Forde has written numerous productions for mainhouse theatre, community theatre and theatre for young people.

In 1996 she received an AWGIE award for SNAPSHOTS FROM HOME, a play commissioned by the Queensland Performing Arts Trust’s ‘Prime of Life’ Arts program. She received a 1998 AWGIE award for WHAT NEXT 2?!! which was also commissioned by QPAT and developed from workshops about sexuality and the aged.

Margery also wrote MY LIFE IS LOVE, commissioned by QPAT and staged at the Cremorne Theatre. Other writing credits include GHOSTS OF SOMETHING IRISH, 1901, KNOCK ’EM DEAD and PROFESSOR BURTON’S TRAVELLING FEDERATION SHOW for the Centenary of Federation Committee which toured Queensland schools for three years.

In 1998 La Boite Theatre commissioned Margery to write X-STACY which premiered at the theatre in that year. The following year it returned for a second sellout season prior to a National tour. The powerful play zeroes in on rave culture and asks the tough questions about family, friends and mutual responsibilities. Fast contemporary and disturbingly familiar, this is a play that every high school student, parent and teacher should read. The play which has been published in Australia by Currency Press, has also been published in the UK.

In 2000 Margery, with her husband Michael Forde, wrote MILO’S WAKE which premiered at La Boite Theatre. The following year MILO’S WAKE was awarded the prestigious NSW PREMIER’S LITERARY AWARD and in 2002 it toured nationally. MILO'S WAKE has also been performed in New Zealand.

Margery and Michael’s next collaboration was WAY OUT WEST which toured Queensland before playing at La Boite Theatre in 2001.  In 2002 Margery and Michael’s STILL STANDING premiered at La Boite Theatre. This was followed by their latest work, JAMES AND JOHNNO, which premiered at La Boite in 2004 and toured Queensland in 2005 and Victoria in 2006.
